A Fox Chapel Middle School teacher, Daryl Cox, recently distributed a questionnaire to her sixth grade “Leader in Me” students. The questionnaire contained inflammatory questions on race, religion and sex. Cox was terminated by the Hernando County School District. The story was picked up by two local television stations as well as The Blaze.

A reporter for WTSP, found that many of the questions were taken straight from a book called “Exploring White Privilege” by Robert Amico.

The students were supposed to indicate how comfortable they were with the situations described on the survey. Some of the situations included:

“Your family buys a home in a predominantly black neighborhood.”

“Your new roommate is Palestinian and Muslim.”

“A friend invites you to go to a gay bar.”

“You go to the gay bar and a person of the same sex asks you to dance.”

Cox was within a probationary period so the termination did not need to be approved by the school board.
