Christi Charlow, Human Resources/Risk Director for Hernando County, reported the results of her most recent meeting with the Teamsters Union (No. 79), held on 07/06/17. The collective bargaining agreement covers both professional and non-professional union workers.
Charlow reported that the 35 non-professional union employees present voted “yes” to the agreement. The five professional union employees who attended also voted “yes”.
Commissioner Nick Nicholson stated his appreciation of Charlow’s efforts in the various collective bargaining agreements she has negotiated. The process is smoother and less contentious than in previous years. Chairman Wayne Dukes echoed Nicholson, but also gave credit to the change in the union leadership as well.
The contracts are the same for both types of union employees, with an additional paragraph for the professional union members. Article 19, which details the annual Step Up salary increase, was adjusted.
The BOCC agreed unanimously to approve the agreement with the Teamsters Union. The contract becomes effective on 10/01/17, the beginning of the County’s fiscal year, and expires 09/30/2020.
