The Towne Square Mall opened in 2002 in a strip mall that previously held a Walmart. It has a large open space that holds a number of diverse vendors.
The mall allows startups to develop their businesses in a collaborative environment or established businesses to focus on their business rather than dealing with all the responsibilities of managing a building. Their goal is to to promote locally owned and operated businesses here in Hernando County.
Shoppers can visit a number of different vendors without leaving the comfort of air conditioning. Some of their more established businesses at the mall are the Quality Exotic Birds and the House of Foam.
The mall has been the site of many interesting events from an Art Auction to Any Given Sunday Professional Wrestling. They have also had a number of musical guests including Johnny B, Magic Moments, and Boca Boy.
The Art Auction was a Kiwanis fundraiser. They auctioned the work of “Sharzay,” who produces colorful and energetic pop art. His web site is http://sharzay.com/.
Kiwanis Club of Spring Hill and the Mall are also working together on Spring Hill Operation Backpack. Operation Backpack is a backpack/school supplies giveaway for children in need. This year it will be held on August 15th. Operation Backpack will provide services to 1000+ kids here in Spring Hill. Look for carwashes throughout the summer, supporting Operation Backpack.
Changes are coming to the area. In front of the mall a Polish Restaurant is going through the permitting process. The new manager of Towne Square Richard Sanvenero continues to revamp the shopping experience at this retail center and with a multitude of fresh ideas, shoppers will never get bored.
