Two appropriation bills sponsored by Representative Ingoglia were vetoed by the Governor last week. A $425,000 appropriations request to help fund the construction of The Arc Nature Coast Life Skills Center on their Neff Lake Campus was vetoed along with The City of Brooksville’s $350,000 request to fund the Horselake Creek – Southeastern Branch Drainage Restoration Project.
Governor Scott also vetoed $4 million in funding for a wellness center for St. Leo University. The legislation was sponsored by Rep. Daniel Burgess.
The NAMI Hernando/Vincent Academy of the Adventure Coast, Inc Life Skills Center was approved and incorporated into the 2018 budget. NAMI Hernando/Vincent Academy of the Adventure Coast, Inc will receive $1 million in funding for the construction of a Life Skills Center for those struggling with mental illness. An additional $250,000 has been reauthorized for program services.
Hernando County will be receiving a $75,000 appropriation for the Enhanced Laboratory Surveillance of Mosquito Borne Diseases. A $65,000 portion will be allocated for lab equipment, while $10,000 will go towards lab equipment consumables. The allocation comes from a $2.66 million statewide appropriation.
A staff member at Representative Blaise Ingoglia’s office stated that HB 5301 – State Agency Information Technology Reorganization sponsored by Ingoglia may be addressed during the upcoming special session. HB 5301 creates a State Cybersecurity Task Force along with organizational changes to the Agency for State Technology.
