Al and Ellie Marceau own the Weeki Wachee Seafood market which opened its doors late last year. So far they have developed a strong relationship with locals and restaurant owners. They have great prices and fresh delicious seafood of many varieties. The gulf shrimp pinks are wonderful and their wild North Atlantic salmon melts in your mouth. Both are affordably priced. We even tried their octopus which we chopped up and sauteed with some garlic and olive oil. This was a hit.
Al and Ellie, both in their 70’s, are entrepreneurs who don’t let their age get in the way of business. They are looking into partnering with a restaurant in order to bring fresh seafood directly to their customers’ plates. The Marceaus owned a successful seasonal seafood restaurant in Massachusetts in which they often hired culinary and high school students to provide them with the opportunity to gain real work experience. They even let students develop their own signature dishes. They hope to find a restaurant owner who may be interested in combining with a seafood market and employing some of their unique restaurant experience.
In the meantime, follow Al’s yellow signs to the Weeki Wachee Seafood Market (because it is tricky to find without them) and eat more fish!
