Open Houses are an excellent way for the public to see what, how and why business operates in Hernando County. When New Sentry K9 teamed up with Animal Rescue Friends Network Inc. (Arf’N) for an Open House on Saturday in Brooksville, the results of this event was a truly welcoming experience.
For New Sentry owner John Gore, life without dogs would be nonexistent for him. He has been involved with the Brooksville Police Department and Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. Twenty years of his career were in the K9 unit and he worked with 6 dogs throughout his career.
“Once I knew I wanted to retire, I knew I was going to stay with dogs,” John Gore said
New Sentry K9 helps dog owners with training their dogs, from basic training such as sit, stay, heel commands to advance training that includes tracking. “This county provided me with the knowledge how to train dogs and work with dogs,” Gore said.
New Sentry offers great programs for dogs and owners to build that relationship together and most importantly, trust.
Kelly Parker who is in training, has the future goal to take over New Sentry after Gore retires. “They are just like people, you have the ones that are so loving and sweet and then you have the ones that just don’t care…,” Parker laughed. Parker is training in all aspects of running this operation. “It’s relaxing to me.”
Cheryl Fagundo, President of Animal Rescue Friends Network stated, “We partner today with John because we love him. He does a great job training, he’s help many of our rescue dogs be adoptable.”
The Open House event was a great opportunity to meet other dog lovers and to see how training is conducted as well as find a new way to build a relationship with your dog.
“We believe to do as much as we can for dogs because of my love for dogs,” Gore said.
