This weekend Chinsegut Conservation Center hosted a Wildlife Photography Exhibit showcasing photography from members of Hernando County Photographers. With an assortment of photos from flowers to birds, is just a glimpse of what you can see on the trails.
“This is a new event for the center, but it’s definitely something we hope to continue to offer on yearly basis. This gives the visitor something that we really never offered before as well as it also serves a fundraiser for us to support our educational programs,” said Gina Philhower, Director of Chinsegut Conservation Center.
The Hernando County Photographers are a group of members from all levels of photography and the group’s main objective is about having fun and being creative, as well as being a part of the community.
“We work at building new creative ideas through photography as well as building a closer bond with our community,” said Hernando County Photographers coordinator Alice Mary Herden. “Having the opportunity for us to showcase our work was an amazing experience and we’re looking forward to next year when we will be adding a great experience for the kids.”
During the event, Nature Photographer and FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) volunteer Bob Lewis shared many memories as well as visions of life around nature.
“It’s a great idea and I think we have to do this more often. I see a lot of excellent photography here,” Lewis said.
Lewis has well over thirty five years of nature photography and is sharing that experience in the upcoming course, Introductory nature photography and journaling, offered at Chinsegut Conservation Center.
The exhibit and prints will continue at the center throughout the year.
What is upcoming for the center: The second week in July the center is offering a program about land management in Florida. FWC, as well as Forest Service and the Department of Environmental Protection will be explaining the management activities.
