An incident occurred on May 2nd that was widely reported and shared on social media. A number of individuals contacted the Hernando Sun asking that we report on the incident.
On May 2nd at around 5:45pm John Capel a former US Olympian was starting track practice for True Elite Athletes and Mentors Inc., or T.E.A.M. A couple of coaches from the Screaming Eagles football team had set up chairs on the track as they watched football practice.
He stated that his assistant coach had requested that they move off the track so that they could start track practice. The coaches acted as if they did not hear him. John Capel then went over and requested that they move off the track, so track practice could start.
One of the coaches, Wes Fulkerson, who is also the owner of Screaming Eagle football is then reported by Capel as saying “You n*****s think you own everything”. “I am not moving anywhere. This is my field and my track.” Capel says he decided to walk away and as he walked away, Fulkerson said “I know you hear me. I’m talking to you boy.”
Several other witnesses have corroborated the version of events provided by Capel. Capel was very upset by this incident. His son had previously played football for the Screaming Eagles. Capel now operates a competing football league.
